Product Description
Optonica 7144 (K-4000C) is a DMX/SPI controller with 4 output ports for programmable LED lighting. It suits compatible RGBW installations, including Optonica 7141 linear wall washers with 44 SPI pixels. Four ports provide multiple control branches, for example for separate façade surfaces or lighting sections.
Control features and port capacity
The controller manages colour, brightness and lighting effects according to the selected programme and the capabilities of the compatible luminaires. A 512 MB SD card is specified for lighting-programme storage. Control is wired, so plan suitable signal connections between the controller and the luminaires.
The manufacturer states a control capacity of up to 16 RGBW luminaires with 44 pixels each per port. This describes the data-control capacity. The Optonica 7141 luminaire instructions specify a maximum of 8 luminaires in one electrical daisy chain. Larger installations therefore need correctly arranged power circuits even when the control port has further capacity available.
Power supply and system planning
The controller accepts 5 V DC or 12–24 V DC through the input terminals intended for the selected voltage. Check the markings before connecting power; do not apply a supply to an arbitrary input. The controller manages the control signals, while the luminaires require a suitable 24 V DC power supply sized for their load.
Add up the luminaire wattages, allow the necessary power-supply margin and select cables appropriate for the load and cable run. Plan the port allocation and signal route as well. The 7141 family includes the 7142 connection cable and 7143 T-connector. For projects requiring more outputs, the 8-port model 7145 is also available.
Installation and operation
The black aluminium and polycarbonate housing has IP20 protection, so install the controller in a dry, protected location. Outdoor façade projects require a suitable protective enclosure while maintaining adequate heat dissipation. The specified operating temperature is −20 to +40 °C, with a 2-year warranty. Disconnect the supply before wiring or changing connections, and check the programme with the intended luminaires before final installation.
The manufacturer’s manual specifies dimensions of 215 × 146 × 30 mm and a weight of 800 g. The horizontal mounting-slot centre distance is 194 mm. Allow access to the terminals, SD card and control buttons when choosing the installation position.
